Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, our experienced and professional driver guide will pick you up from your hotel or area of residence in Kampala or Entebbe. He/she will first take you through a quick briefing on what your 4 days Queen Elizabeth National Park and chimpanzee tracking safari is all about. Later, head to western Uganda to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is approximately 5-6 hours’ drive through Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara route which comes with stopover at the equator for photo taking and relaxation and later, proceed to the park. Get here early enough and check in at your lodge for you to have lunch and some rest. Later in the afternoon, you will set off for a thrilling launch cruise which takes you along the Kazinga channel. This will excite you with magical sights at huge concentration of hippos, crocodiles, water birds and many savanna grassland wildlife species that roam around the banks.
Dine and spend a night at Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury), Bush Lodge/Ihamba Safari Lodge (Moderate) or Mweya Hostel (Basic).
Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise
Have the best of your hot tea or coffee and after, head off to Kasenyi track for a game drive. This will reward you will remarkable sights at diverse wildlife species such as leopards, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, elephants, buffaloes, lions, birds and many others. After, drive back to the lodge to have lunch and later, head off for a boat cruise along Kazinga which also gets you the best sights at hippos, Nile crocodiles, aquatic birds and other species.
Day 3: Travel to Kibale Forest National Park
After your enjoyable breakfast, you check out ready to embark on about 3 hours’ drive to Kibale National Park. Arrive early enough and have lunch. In the afternoon, join other visitors where you will be briefed on the dos and don’ts that you have to follow while on chimpanzee tracking. After, you will be put in a group of 6 people and assigned to 1 park ranger guide who will take you through your primate adventure. On the trek, you will have an hour of face to face encounter with chimpanzees, take as many photos as possible and explore their behaviors. Besides magical encounters with chimpanzees, you also have a chance to spot out other species including primates like the red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, L’Hoest monkeys as well as forest birds. Return to the lodge to have rest, dinner and overnight stay at Primate Lodge (Luxury), Chimp Nest Lodge/Kibale Forest Camp (Midrange) or Rwenzori View Guesthouse (Budget).
Day 4: Return to Kampala
Following breakfast early in the morning, check out from the lodge and after, make a return road trip to Kampala/Entebbe.
