For primate and wildlife enthusiasts on a wildlife safari in Africa, this is one of the greatest packages designed to show you all Uganda has to offer in terms of biodiversity. Kibale Forest National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park are both located in western Uganda and are two of East Africa’s most spectacular wilderness locations.

Kibale National Park is home to more than 13 primate species, including approximately 1500 chimps, black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys, to name a few.

There are also 350 different bird species and flower species to identify. Queen Elizabeth National Park, on the other hand, is home to a diverse range of terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, including tree-climbing lions, African elephants, buffaloes, leopards, antelopes, and over 620 bird species.

4 day Wildlife and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, our skilled and professional driver guide will take you up from your Kampala or Entebbe accommodation. He/she will first give you a concise overview of your four-day Queen Elizabeth National Park and chimpanzee tracking expedition. Later, travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda, which takes around 5-6 hours through the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara road, with a detour near the equator for photos and leisure before continuing to the park. Arrive early and check into your lodge so you may eat lunch and relax. Later in the afternoon, you will go on an exciting launch cruise down the Kazinga waterway. This will enchant you with wonderful vistas of hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and numerous savanna grassland animal species roaming along the banks.

Dine and stay the night at either the luxurious Mweya Safari Lodge, the moderate Bush Lodge/Ihamba Safari Lodge, or the budget-friendly Mweya Hostel (Basic).

Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise

Enjoy your hot tea or coffee before heading to Kasenyi track for a game drive. This will reward you with breathtaking views of many wildlife species such as leopards, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, elephants, buffaloes, lions, birds, and many more. After that, return to the resort for lunch before embarking on a boat ride through Kazinga, where you will see hippos, Nile crocodiles, aquatic birds, and other species.

Day 3: Travel to Kibale National Park.

After a delicious breakfast, you check out and prepare for a three-hour journey to Kibale National Park. Arrive on time and have lunch. In the afternoon, meet up with other guests to be instructed on the dos and don’ts of chimp tracking. Following that, you will be divided into groups of six and allocated to one park ranger guide who will accompany you on your primate experience. During the journey, you will spend one hour face-to-face with chimpanzees, taking as many photos as possible and observing their activities. Aside from amazing experiences with chimps, you may also see other primates such as red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, L’Hoest monkeys, and forest birds.
Return to the lodge to rest, eat dinner, and spend the night at Primate Lodge (Luxury), Chimp Nest Lodge/Kibale Forest Camp (Midrange), or Rwenzori View Guesthouse (Budget).

Day 4: Return to Kampala

Following breakfast in the morning, check out of the resort and return by road to Kampala/Entebbe.
