Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park and boat ride

After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on a road trip to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savanna grassland park. After lunch, you have boat ride via Lake Ihema and this comes with astonishing sights at hippos, crocodiles and water birds a mention but a few.

Dine and spend a night at Dereva Hotel (Budget), Akagera Game Lodge (Midrange) or Ruzizi Tented Lodge/Magashi Luxury Tented Camp (Luxury).

Ensure that you have your packed lunch/energy giving snacks and bottled water. A trek to see mountain gorillas in this park may take you about 4 to 8 hours but this may depend on your hiking speed, nature of habitat and location of gorillas. Day 5: Golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you may opt to embark on golden monkey tracking or a hike to Dian Fossey tomb site for you to explore more about Dian Fossey and conservation legacy. Later, head off to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Dine and spend a night at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Moderate) or Gisakura Guesthouse (Basic).

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Following breakfast early in the morning, you will gather at the park headquarters for you to be briefed on dos and don’ts for chimpanzee tracking. Besides chimpanzees, this 7 day Rwanda wildlife safari also comes with amazing sights at varied primate species including colobus monkeys, mangabeys, blue monkeys and forest birds.
